This prevents premature failure of the battery due to one cell taking more abuse from charging and discharging than the others. An added benefit is that the slide-on style is much easier to remove and replace than typical clip-on style batteries. The 2.0 amp hour capacity provides more power and longer run time. It fits Porter-Cable 8723.
